Mr. Badr Jafar

Mr. Jafar is CEO of Crescent Enterprises, a multinational conglomerate operating across six industry sectors. He is managing director of the company’s parent Crescent Group, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates since 1972 and president of Crescent Petroleum, the group’s oil and gas subsidiary. He is also chairman of Gas Cities llc, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas pjsc and chairman of Pearl Petroleum, a partnership between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV of Austria, MOL of Hungary and RWEST of Hungary.
 
Additionally, Mr. Jafar is active in a variety of other industries, including ports and logistics, serving as chair of executive board of Gulftainer (the world’s largest private container port operator); and private equity ventures, serving as a board member of the Abraaj Group.
 
Mr. Jafar is an active member of the young presidents' organisation, serving as ex-officio chair of the YPO Emirates Chapter. He was honored as a young global leader by the World Economic Forum in 2011, is co-chair of their family business community, a global agenda trustee for economic growth and social inclusion and a member of the global future council on the humanitarian system. In 2010, Mr. Jafar co-founded the Pearl Initiative, a non-profit venture in cooperation with the United Nations for partnerships to encourage a corporate culture of greater transparency and accountability across the gulf region in the Middle East. As part of his efforts advocating social entrepreneurship, he is a founding board member and chairman of Endeavor UAE and serves on the global board for Education For Employment (EFE).
