September 30, 2013 - Rubicon to produce Paul McCartney's first full length animated movie "High in The Clouds"

The launch of the new animated movie “High in The Clouds”, based on former Beatles singer Sir Paul McCartney’s Children’s book, was announced in a press statement today. The animated film, McCartney’s first full length animated feature, will be produced by Rubicon Group Holding (RGH), a portfolio company of Growthgate Capital.

McCartney will compose several original songs for the film, which is expected to be released in 3D in 2015. Co-written by Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh, and first published in 2005, the story centers on a squirrel’s quest to find a fabled animal sanctuary called Animalia.

“High in the Clouds” is said to be a passion project for McCartney.McCartney and animation goes back to the "Yellow Submarine” animation film from 1969, which he gave a few songs to and contributed some ideas for. Since then, McCartney has worked on several projects, such as Tropic Island Hum and Rupert and the Frog Song. “High in the Clouds” will be his first full-length animation film.

RGH has partnered with Unique Features to produce the animation, with Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett serving as executive producers. Tony Bancroft, Disney animator whose credits include “Mulan” and “The Lion King”, will direct the feature from a screenplay by Josh Klausner, most known for “Shrek Forever After”.
